Dalinian Science, Perception and Brain Research

This lecture investigates how our brain receives and interprets information gathered by our senses, especially vision. Scientists did not invent the vast majority of visual illusions, artists did. Salvador Dalí was a leader in this area through Surealism and his double image paintings. Our perception has changed over the centuries and is entering what is becoming known as the Conceptual Age. Join us for this visually exciting presentation.

Boating and The Weather

Mike Clay, Chief Meteorologist, Bay News 9

Mike's broadcasting career began at a small radio station in his native Texas back in 1978 when he was a junior in high school. In 1985, Mike moved from radio to television, taking his first job as a TV weather anchor at KCEN-TV in Waco, Texas. In 1997, Mike helped launch Bay News 9 as the original meteorologist on Your Morning News. Mike says his most memorable moment at Bay News 9 was the morning of Aug. 13, 2004 when Bay News 9 successfully forecast Hurricane Charley to stay south of the Tampa Bay area.

Joel Heyne and Brian Fox

Brian Fox of Odessa and Joel Heyne of St. Petersburg sailed around the world leaving Boca Ciega Yacht Club on January 4, 2014. The two men cruised on a 40-foot sailboat called American Spirit II. They began circumnavigating the globe when they joined 35 other sailboats taking part in the World Atlantic Rally for Cruisers.
